I sing the sweets I know,
The charms I feel,
My morning incense,
And my evening meal,
The sweets of Hasty-Pudding.

I have no idea what kind of butterfly this is, or if in fact it is a butterfly. It's closed wings looked rather moth-like. I was so focused on capturing the butterfly with my camera I didn't see the fly beside him until I looked at the photo on my laptop.

That woodpecker banquet, termite infested, tree that I showed a couple of days ago has an inhabitant on the other side.  Chickadees live here!  Oh dear!  Won't they be annoyed with me when the city shows up to remove the tree.

This is Diva, the American Cocker Spaniel that Lollipop keep meeting on our walks.  We met her and her owner again yesterday; they were taking a walk before going out to dinner.  I thought Diva was a young dog but my companion who is a nurse noticed a catarac in her eye so now I think she might be an older dog. Nurse Susan told me I would see the cataracs in the photo . . . I think I do.   I love the way this pretty dog is groomed; she seems to have a skirt at each ankle.  It was a little difficult to get a good photo of her; she kept moving.  Another thing I have just noticed--Diva sounds like a girl's name but her leash is blue.  Could Diva be a boy?

I saw this tree on a city street, public property.  It looks like woodpeckers have had a good time here . . . or is it something more?

These beauties are a new variety (sorry I did not catch the name) I saw at our recent Canada Blooms show.  They looked lovely hanging in the mist from the pool but the attendant told me they do not require much water, actually prefer a dry soil.  These were potted and the pots hidden.

Lollipop is going to a party today!  Her tear stains are gone.  She is clipped so short, she will have to keep her jersey on.

Venus (top) and Jupiter (bottom, smaller because it is further) over Toronto last night. Glenn tells me it has been visible most of this month. He brought me out (in my socks) last night to have a look. Of course, I had to run back for my camera!

Lollipop, don't you think you are taking this "lap dog" thing a little too far? This is a dog park, baby-cakes!   Get down and act like a dog!

Here is a recipe for Homemade Skunk Off, a deodorizer you can make quickly if your pet is sprayed by a skunk.  It is less expensive than tomato juice and works well.  Sure hope I never need it, hope you don't either!

Mix together:

-One (1) liter of hydrogen peroxide

- 1/4 of cup of baking soda (Cow brand)

- One (1) coffee spoon of liquid soap

The pet has to be soaked with this solution using a sponge. Precautions must be taken near the eyes the same way that you would with shampoo. The soap will dissolve the oils contained in the skunk secretions, allowing the other two ingredients to neutralize the thioalcohols responsible for the foul-smell.
